Malaika's Secret is a colourfully worded novel with intriguing plotlines in which you can clearly see the author's vivid imagination. The story is gripping, but unfortunately the over usage of adjectives spoils the reading experience often ripping you from the story. Some sentences even have more than three descriptions, a classic sign of writing many words and actually saying very little.
The author still manages to make this a fast-paced and exciting read that left me speechless! I will definitely be checking out more of Vijaya's work in the future.
Overall this book was an enjoyable, if a bit forgettable, read. Not one that I could particularly bash, but also not one I'd write home about.
In the end, the only reason for four instead of five stars is that I found it hard to connect with any of the characters on an emotional level.
